Weil's family moved to a small town in Pennsylvania when she was seven years old, and she soon began performing in the local theater. Her parents helped guide her career despite her lack of formal training, allowing her to travel to Manhattan several times a month to audition for roles.
Weil debuted her acting career at nine years old. In 1994, she was featured in the TV series The Adventures of Pete & Pete as Margie Corsell. She reprised her role for two episodes from 1994 to 1996.
