Layla Alizada is an Afghan-Canadian actress. She is best known for playing Feda in the Oscar-nominated short film Day One (2015).
Who is Layla Alizada?
Layla Alizada began her acting career after being scouted by a talent agent at age 13. She subsequently booked a regular series role in the high school drama KidZone.
In 1995, Alizada guest-starred in the television series Strange Luck, portraying the role of Carol. She then debuted on the big screen with the 1999 historical fiction action film The 13th Warrior, playing the role of a serving girl.
After playing some bit parts, Alizada landed her first significant role when she co-starred in the 2004 TV movie Chasing Freedom, alongside Juliette Lewis. In the TV movie, Alizada played the role of Meena, an immigrant woman seeking asylum in the United States. Her role earned her the ‘Gracie Awards’ for ‘Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Special’ and the ‘Gemini Award’ nomination for ‘Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Supporting Role in a Dramatic Program or Mini-Series.’
Two years later, she appeared in the 2006 television movie, Holiday in Handcuffs, portraying the role of Lucy.
In addition, Alizada has also appeared in guest-starring and recurring roles in many television series. From 2004 to 2021, she guest-starred on television series, including Dead Like Me, The Evidence, Eureka, Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior, The Whole Truth, The Mentalist, SEAL Team, Shameless, and Lucifer. She also had recurring roles on television series, including Da Vinci’s Inquest, Godiva’s, Days of Our Lives, The Muppets, Taken, Shut Eye, and Jane the Virgin.
Additionally, Alizada has appeared in films Compromise (2011) and The Cuban (2019). Layla Alizada was born in Kabul, Afghanistan, on 11 August 1977. She was raised in Montreal, Canada, for several years before moving to Vancouver, where she attended the professional theater training school, Studio 58.
Wedding
Alizada met her future husband, actor Noel Fisher, on the sets of the comedy-drama television series Godiva’s in 2005. Fisher was a series regular while Alizada was cast in a recurring role on Godiva’s. They soon began dating and got engaged after nearly a decade. The couple eventually got married on 15 July 2017 in an intimate wedding ceremony in front of 60 close friends and family.
The two have always wanted a small wedding. “We always wanted a wedding that was small and intimate. It was a magical day and even more special having so much of it put together with the help of our loved ones,” Alizada and Fisher revealed to People in 2017.
