Kerry Rhodes was born on 2 August 1982 in Birmingham, Alabama. He started playing football at age nine and continued to play in high school. Then in 2000, he started his collegiate career at Louisville as a quarterback. He later transitioned to safety and earned first-team 'All-Conference USA Honors' in 2004.
After his collegiate career, Rhodes kicked off his professional football career after being drafted by New York Jets in the fourth round (123rd overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft. In his first season with the New York Jets, he started in 16 consecutive games and recorded 108 tackles. In the 2006 season, he was named to the All-Pro team by the Associated Press. In his five seasons with the New York Jets, he intercepted 15 passes and helped two playoff berths.
In 2010, Rhodes was traded to the Arizona Cardinals. He was inducted into the Kentucky chapter of the NFL Players Association 'Hall of Fame' the following year.
