Dallas Cowboys
Moore was signed to the Dallas Cowboys' practice squad on 6 September 2015, reuniting with former Lions offensive coordinator Scott Linehan. On 23 September, Moore was upgraded to the active roster as Brandon Weeden's backup after Tony Romo first fractured his left collarbone. Until the Cowboys acquired former American quarterback Matt Cassel, Moore was the team's backup for two games. He was then waived on 10 November and re-signed to the practice squad two days later.
On 2 December, Moore was upgraded to the active roster. Moore made his regular-season debut against the New York Jets on 19 December, replacing Cassel. Marcus Gilchrist intercepted Moore's second career NFL pass. However, Moore connected with Dez Bryant for his first career touchdown on the next possession.

The following week, Moore made his first start against the Buffalo Bills, completing 13 of 31 passes and tossing an interception to AJ Tarpley in the third quarter as the Cowboys lost 6-16.
In his first home start, Moore passed for 435 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions in a 23-34 loss to the Washington Redskins. He became the team's fifth quarterback to throw for 400 yards or more in a single game, and he also passed for the sixth-most yards in a single game.
On 2 August 2016, he fractured his right fibula during a training camp practice and was placed on an injured reserve on 30 August.
