Katelyn Jae was born in the Philadelphia neighborhood of Chester Springs, Pennsylvania, on 19 June 1992. Kane Brown and Jae had their connection started in 2015, and according to Brown, the bond progressed pretty quickly. The couple initially met at Brown’s first show. Brown was actually scheduled to appear in Jae’s music video the day before his concert, but that couldn’t happen because of the clash of their work plan. But, upon meeting Jae, he somehow managed to make the first move.
“She came to one of my shows and the first time I saw her it was the shy giddiness,” Brown shared to Taste of Country about their relationship start. “I didn’t know what was going to happen. She lived in Orlando [and] was in Miami. I messaged her on Instagram the next night and said, ‘Hey, when are we going to hang out?’ and flew her down and she hasn’t left since.”
Engagement and wedding
The couple was watching a horror movie, The Amityville Horror, when Brown put forth the marriage proposal. He had initially envisioned a particularly romantic proposal with rose petals strewn about that certainly would have made their night special, but that couldn’t happen because Brown got too excited. “I just couldn’t wait,” he says.
The couple officially got married on 12 October 2018 at Mint Springs Farm in Franklin, Tennessee, and they went to Gatlinburg for their honeymoon.
In 2019, Brown released a song in 2019 named ‘Good as You,’ which included their wedding footage. Similarly, the couple made a song together after their marriage in 2020 called ‘Mad At This World’. The song and the music conveyed their thanks to the world for bringing them together.
Daughter
Jae and Brown welcomed their daughter Kingsley in October 2019. Brown talked about his fatherhood in one of his songs, ‘One Thing Right,’ and also told Taste of Country about what he wanted to do as a father that he didn’t experience growing up without a dad.
“I grew up without a dad, so I was kind of wanting to relive my childhood while I was being a dad to my little girl. Take her to Six Flags, to Disney World, coach her softball team, and do all the things I didn’t have a dad to do with me.”
