Early Life and Education

Karolina Protsenko was born on 3 October 2008 in Ukraine in a musical family. Her parents Nikolay Protsenko and Ella Protsenko are guitarist and pianist. Protsenko moved to the US in 2015 when she was 6. She commenced her violin lessons the same year and was classically trained.

Protsenko just wanted to play an instrument. So when her parents asked her to choose between flute and violin, she picked the violin without even knowing what it was.

Protsenko started busking in Summer 2017 at the Santa Monica CA 3rd Street Promenade. One of her videos performing at Santa Monica went viral, and she became a social media sensation when she was just 9. According to her, performing at Santa Monica was fun. In two years, Protenko's fan base significantly grew into 5 million followers in more than 50 different countries. Her videos on YouTube and other media sites have been watched over 300 million times.

On 7 March 2020, Protsenko and two other young musical prodigies, Angelica Hale and Kayden Kelly showcased their talents at Santa Fe's Lensic Theater.

Protsenko has been covering numerous difficult pop songs with ease and prowess. Protsenko is already proud of her achievements. She said, "I know who I want to be already in my age, and I think that's my biggest accomplishment." 

The Ellen Show 

Karolina Protsenko participated on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2020 and soothed the audience with her violin cover of Post Malone's 'Sunflower' from the 2018 animated movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and received huge applause. In the show, Protsenko shared her experience on busking and noted that she was saving up the money she gets from performing on the streets for her college. The violin champ also tried out for America's Got Talent, but it didn't go well.

Protsenko released her debut album My Dream on 19 July 2018, when she was 9 years old. Her second album, Fly, was released on 5 December 2018. Similarly, her third and fourth albums, Sunflower and Sky, were released on 21 May 2019 and 15 October 2019 when she turned 11.  

In 2021, Protsenko released ten singles and EPs such as 'Before You Go,' 'Arcade,' 'Déjà vu,' 'Warrior,' 'Love Story,' 'Diamonds' etc.

Choice of Songs

In 2020, Protsenko once again turned people's attention by playing 'Despacito' by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee with her classical violin. For this, she collaborated with saxophonist Daniele Vitale, and the video featured them playing music on the beach shore from different locations.

After she published her interpretation of the song 'Bad Guy' by Billie Eilish, she decided to perform on an equal hit of 2019, 'Senorita' by Shwan Mendes and Camilla Cabello. She has also played on Justin Bieber's 'Let me love you.'

Her first album included the classic version of Coldplay's 'Fix You,' Disney Frozen's 'Let it go,' and the good-old song 'Somewhere over the rainbow.'

YouTube Restoration

The violinist faced false copyright claims and other issues regarding her YouTube channel, Karolina Protsenko Violin. It had got two strikes, and a couple of her videos were deleted from her channel. After the third strike, her channel was blocked and deleted. 

A Russian scammer also attacked her channel. The scammer used counterfeit certificates from the copyright society, which stated that the violinist had allegedly violated his copyright. Protsenko also reported that the scammer extorted money from her family.

However, her YouTube channel was restored later. She shared her happiness with her fans and thanked her friends, who helped her by providing information to solve the issue.

Protsenko joined YouTube in 2018. Presently, she runs three different YouTube channels and has 5.5 million subscribers and over 759 million views. The young talent is also active on Instagram with 851K followers and Facebook with 8.3 million followers.

Personal Life

Protsenko has two little brothers with whom she frequently uploads photos on Instagram. She stays in Simi Valley, California, and practices violin every day for 2-3 hours. She is an ardent fan of popular violinist Lindsey Stirling.
