Kamal Givens gained popularity due to his appearance in the reality dating show I Love New York. He also participated in other VH1 reality shows such as I Love Money, Real Chance of Love, Legend Hunters, and One Mo Chance. Givens is also a former member of the rap group, The Stallionaires, which he co-founded with his brothers Ahmad Givens and Micah Givens.
Early Life
Chance was born on 25 March 1981, in South Los Angeles. He was raised on a horse ranch in North California among his three siblings, Ahmad Givens, Sean Givens, and Micah Givens.
Kamal, Ahmad, and Micah were in a rap group together known as The Stallionares in the early 2000s.
Career
Initially, Givens started his career from the rap group, The Stallionaires. He co-founded the group with his brothers Micah and Ahmad, popularly known as Real. The trio formed the group in the early 2000s in reference to the horse ranch they were raised.
The rap group, The Stallionaires released eight songs – 'One Mo Chance,' 'Does She Love Me,' 'Can't Get Enough Of This Love,' 'I See You Walkin,' 'I'm Get'n It,' 'I'm Bad,' 'Come Together' and 'Chuzee Luva.'
'I Love New York'
In 2007, Chance and Real participated in the dating reality show I Love New York. In the show Tiffany "New York," Pollard dated 20 different men in hopes of finding love. Givens and Real were among the 20 contestants.
Unfortunately, Chance did not win the show. But, it helped him gained him a name as a TV show personality. After his appearance in I Love New York, Chance then went on to a part of other reality shows of VH1.
In 2008, Real and Chance got an opportunity to start their own dating show, Real Chance of Love. In season 1 of the show, they had 17 participants. Real ended up selecting Abbi, also known as Corn Fed, as his top pick. Unfortunately, Real and Abbi broke up shortly after the reunion episode had been taped. However, Chance did not choose anyone as his partner.
In the show's second season in 2009, Chance paired up with Hot Wings as his partner while Real paired up with Doll.
'One Mo Chance'
Chance experienced many hardships after the second season of Real Chance of Love. In 2013, Ahmad, aka Real, was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer and died in February 2015 after fighting with the disease. He left behind his wife Raquel and their son, Mahdi. It left Chance to take a break from the reality TV scene. Chance also experienced a breakdown of his relationship with the mother of his children.
Fortunately, Chance is back on the dating scene for the fans he accumulated from his previous appearances. In October 2019, he announced to have partnered in another reality dating show, One Mo Chance.
Developed by producers Derrick Handspike and Antonio Moses, season one of the show was aired in 2020. The second season was premiered on 19 September 2021. The second season picks up right from where the last season ended. There will be lots of fights and drama with a lot of familiar faces coming back.
