Jaylen Barron is an American actress who first began her career as a model for the tween store Justice. She later transitioned to full-time acting with guests and recurring roles on hit Disney and Nickelodeon shows. Barron first debuted her acting career in 2012 after appearing as Ashley Otton on the series Bones. She was also featured in See Dad Run from 2012 to 2013 and Good Luck Charlie from 2013 to 2014.

She eventually landed a recurring role on Showtime's TV show Shameless as Dominique in 2016. Barron was also cast as Zoe Phillips in the Netflix original drama series Free Rein: The Twelve Neighs of Christmas in 2017. In addition to that, she recently appeared in the 2021 TV series like Blindspotting and 9-1-1. The show follows the Duncan family, who are adjusting to the birth of their fourth child, Charlotte. When the children's parents Bob (Eric Allan Kramer) and Amy (Leigh-Allyn Baker), go back to work, they enlist the help of their three older children, Teddy (Bridgit Mendler), PJ (Jason Dolley), and Gabe (Bradley Steven Perry). 

'Blindspotting'

Subsequently, Barron got cast on Blindspotting, a TV series that premiered in June 2021. The show revolves around Collin (Daveed Diggs), who has three days left on his sentence. He and his troubled childhood best friend Miles (Rafael Casal), who works as a mover, are forced to watch their old neighborhood transform into a trendy hotspot in the rapidly gentrifying Bay Area. When Collin misses his mandatory curfew due to a life-changing event, the two men struggle to maintain their friendship as the changing social landscape exposes their differences.

In the show, Barron portrayed the role of Trish, Miles' half-sister, a fiery young woman on a mission to make the workplace more livable, diverse, and safe for sex workers. Her role illustrates what it means to defy societal norms as a woman of color. In October 2021, the show got renewed for season 2. And Barron celebrated the renewal of the show on her Instagram with the caption, "You see it. We're back for a season 2. @blindspottingstarz🤟ðŸÂ½Thank you for all the love you showed season 1, we can't wait for you to see what's next."

Parents

Barron was born into a mixed ethnic family. Her father was Black and worked as a police officer, while her mother was a Mexican. She also has a younger sister named Sofia Barron, a model. According to her tweet, her parents were strict, and her mother did not approve of her desire to be an entertainer since she was a child. She also revealed that her mother replied, "You're probably not going to be good at it," when she asked her mother to let her try it.
