Jason Chaffetz is an American politician born on 26 March 1967 in Los Gatos, California. He went to Brigham Young University and earned a bachelor's degree in communications in 1989.
Although he started his political career at a young age, in 2004, he was appointed the Chief of Staff to the former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman. Then in 2007, he became the representative from Utah's 3rd Congressional District until 2017.
Throughout his years serving in the house, he remained on multiple committees and made significant decisions for the State of Utah. Initially, from 2011 to 2012, he was on the Oversight and Government Reform, where he was the chairman of its Subcommittee on National Security, Homeland Defense, and Foreign Operations.
Following that, from 2013 to 2014, he was on the United States House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, Homeland Security, and the prestigious Judiciary Committee.
Eventually, from 2015 to 2016, Chaffetz served on the Judiciary Committee and then as a chairman of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee. And on his final years of service, he continued as the chairman of Oversight and Government Reform and a member of the Judiciary Committee.
Subsequently, in 2017 he joined the FOX News Channel as a political host and guest on regular shows like Hannity and Sunday Morning Futures. Furthermore, he also contributes to and hosts the FOX News Radio podcast Jason In The House.

Why did Chaffetz leave the Congress?
On 19 April 2017, Chaffetz made his first move toward leaving Congress by uploading a statement on his public Facebook account.
"For those that would speculate otherwise, let me be clear that I have no ulterior motives. I am healthy. I am confident I would continue to be re-elected by large margins," Chaffetz wrote on not seeking the re-election in 2018.
He continued, "I have the full support of Speaker Ryan to continue as Chairman of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee. That said, I have made a personal decision to return to the private sector."
After that, on 20 April, he signified his initial resignation from the position and said, "My future plans are not yet finalized but I haven't ruled out the possibility of leaving early. In the meantime I still have a job to do and I have no plans to take my foot off the gas."
And eventually, in May, he announced his resignation from office, effective 30 June 2017.
After his resignation, it became evident that he wanted to join the private sector for further financial prosperity.
