Early Life & Education
Jac was born in Fort Thomas, Kentucky, the USA, on 13 February 1995. He was born to Cris Collinsworth and Holly Collinsworth as one of their four children. Cris is a former wide receiver for the Cincinnati Bengals, where he spent eight seasons. His mother, Holly, is an attorney. The two are law school classmates. Jac has a brother named Austin Collinsworth and two sisters: Ashley Collinsworth and Katie Collinsworth.
Jac graduated in May 2017 from Notre Dame University with a film, television, and theater degree. While at college, he was the host of a weekly ND Live digital show that focused on the college football team. Ever since his high school days, Jac knew he wanted to pursue his father’s career path and study to become a sports journalist and broadcaster.

He is an American sportscaster and former professional American football wide receiver who spent eight seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals in the National Football League (NFL). He currently works as a television sports broadcaster for NBC, Showtime, and the NFL Network.
He is also the game analyst of Sunday Night Football on NBC. Cris has earned sixteen Sports Emmy Awards. In addition, he is also the co-owner of Pro Football Focus, where he holds the majority of ownership. In September 2021, Cris began his 13th season of Sunday Night Football booth alongside Al Michaels.
Early Career
Jac’s professional journey in sports media began when he was still at college. There, he interviewed players on the weekly podcast show, Showtime’s A Season with Notre Dame Football. He also worked in weekly athlete features for head coach Brian Kelly’s nationally syndicated television show, Inside Notre Dame Football. He was also the first-ever social media correspondent for NBC Olympics at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
As a student at Notre Dame from 2013 to 2017, Jac also served on the sideline production team for NBC’s Fighting Irish football games. During his final two years at Notre Dam, Jac was the co-host of The Student Section on Sirius XM.
Career at ESPN
Upon graduating from Notre Dame, Jac got a job at ESPN as a reporter on Sunday NFL Countdown. His work highlights on Sunday NFL Countdown include accompanying Detroit WR Marvin Jones on his American Idol audition, Calais Campbell making prank calls on some of his Jacksonville teammates, and collaborating with NFL quarterback Matt Ryan.
During the 2017 and 2018 NFL seasons, Jac worked with ESPN, interviewing prominent players and coaches to showcase their personalities and convey their stories. He also hosted Sunday NFL Countdown parts and headlined NFL Live. In addition, Jac was named host of The Huddle, ESPN’s ACC Network’s staple football program, in July 2019.
Career at NBC
In March 2020, Jac departed ESPN to work for NBC Sports, the same company that his father works for. Jac worked on both linear and digital platforms for various sports, including the Olympics, Notre Dame Football, and the NFL.
Upon joining NBC Sports, Jac said, “For as long as I can remember my dad has been my coach. Now we’re teammates. Life doesn’t get much better than that. It feels good to be home.”
His first task at the network was to host NBC Sports’ web series, Distanced Training: Ready to Get Back in the Game. The show highlights the home workout regime and mental preparation of some of the world’s renowned collegiate, professional, and Olympic athletes.
The first episode featured former Elder High School player and a tight end for the Minnesota Vikings, Kyle Rudolph. It also featured athletes including Kendall Coyne Schofield and her partner, 2018 Olympic women’s hockey team gold-medalist, Buffalo Sabres all-star center Jack Eichel, NFL offensive lineman Michael Schofield, INDYCAR race driver for Andretti Autosport, James Hinchcliffe, Notre Dame defensive lineman Julian Okwara, and Atlas midfielder and Premier Lacrosse League co-owner Paul Rabil.
New Show
The Peacock network premiered an hour-long pre-game show, Countdown to Kickoff, in September 2021. The show is hosted by Jac Collinsworth and Corey Robinson. The co-hosts are also joined by Notre Dame student Caroline Pineda.
