In the fourth film in 'The Expendables' franchise, he will be seen in the villain role in 'The Expendables 4', along with actors like Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham. In an interview with Okezone in December 2021, he shared that working with seasoned action stars like Stallone and Statham was a valuable experience for his career. He said, "Experience is very valuable for me to share a frame with senior players, who have a lot of experience. There are a lot of things that we share, what we think about them, beyond expectations."


Iko Uwais is an Indonesian actor, fight choreographer, and martial artist best known for his starring role as Rama in the 2011 action thriller film The Raid: Redemption and its 2014 sequel The Raid 2.

Who is Iko Uwais?

Iko Uwais, a film actor, was born Uwais Qorny to his mother Maisyaroh and his father Mustapha Kamaluddin on 12 February 1983 in Jakarta, Indonesia. His grandfather, J. Achmad Bunawas, was a master of Indonesian traditional martial art called silat and the founder of a silat school. 

Uwais began learning silat when he was ten years old. At age 22, he won the 2005 'National Pencak Silat Championship' in the Demonstration category. In 2007, Welsh-born film director Gareth Evans discovered Uwais' bio as a martial arts actor while visiting Uwais' Silat school for a documentary. Evans quickly offered Uwais to be the leading actor in his films. Uwais then left his daytime job as an operational driver in a telecommunications company to become a film actor.

Uwais made his big-screen debut as Yuda in the 2009 action drama film Merantau. His debut film became a hit in the world of martial arts films. He then scored his breakout role as Rama, a young Jakarta cop, in the 2011 action thriller film The Raid: Redemption. In 2013, he appeared as Gilang Sunjaya in the action-drama film Man of Tai Chi. He then reprised the role of Rama in The Raid 2

In 2015, he was cast in the role of Razoo Quin-Fee in the sci-fi action film Star Wars: The Force Awakens, alongside Harrison Ford. He then starred as Ishmael in the 2016 action thriller film Headshot. He then played Sua in the 2017 sci-fi action film Beyond Skyline. In 2018, he appeared in action thriller films Mile 22 as Li Noor and The Night Comes for Us as Arian. 

In 2019, he was cast as Oka Tedjo in the action comedy film Stuber and Jaka in the action thriller film Triple Threat. Additionally, he was the co-executive producer and actor on the Netflix supernatural action drama series Wu Assassins

In 2021, he took on his first mentor role as Head Master in the superhero action film Snake Eyes.

Upcoming Projects

Uwais will reprise the role of Kai Jin in Wu Assassins' upcoming sequel film Fistful of Vengeance. The film is scheduled to release on 17 February 2022. He will also appear in the upcoming action film The Expendables 4, which is expected to be released in 2022.

His wife is a multiple-time 'Indonesian Music Award’-winning pop singer. She achieved local stardom with songs like 'Dibalas Dengan Dusta,' 'Menangis Semalam,' and 'Satu Jam Saja.' She has 1.3 million followers on Instagram as of January 2022.

He also has 1.4 million followers on Instagram, where he frequently posts pictures with his wife and daughters.
