Guillermo Diaz Rodriguez is an American talk show personality who rose to fame from the chat show ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!,’ since it aired in 2003.

Guillermo Rodriguez, popularly known as Guillermo, is a talk show personality. He rose to fame from the American late-night talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live!, in which he acts as Jimmy Kimmel’s security guard and sidekick. 

Early Life 

Guillermo Díaz Rodriguez was born on 27 January 1971 in Zacatecas, Mexico. After moving to America, Rodriguez worked as a hotel waiter and a parking lot guard, faced many struggles that any immigrant would encounter, but received no benefits. But, life took a turn when he found his break while working as a parking lot security guard at Hollywood Boulevard Studios for Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Rodriguez’s 50th birthday celebration

Rodriguez turned 50 in 2021, and Jimmy Kimmel celebrated his sidekick’s birthday. Dozens of Hollywood celebrities took part in the 50-shot salute, in honor of Rodriguez’s birthday and as a part of an episode in Jimmy Kimmel Live! The top celebrities who participated in the celebration were Charlize Theron, George Clooney, Matthew McConaughey, Sean Penn, Snoop Dogg, Dupa Lipa, and many more.

Actors from the 2014 movie Guardians of the Galaxy, such as Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Karen, Gillan, and Sean Gunn, were also seen at the party. Guillermo first received an offer to appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in 2003, but he turned down the offer because of his shyness. However, he was convinced by the producers, and Rodriguez made his first television appearance with “Uncle Frank” Potenza in a series of skits called “Security Night Live.” 

The fans of the show fell in love with Guillermo instantly, and his role expanded to acting in skits of his own. Guillermo’s first main role was a spoof where he played Michael Jackson’s Spanish cook. It eventually led him to play Everyman. After receiving positive feedbacks and success from the show, Guillermo has begun to cover all the comedic red carpet interviews. 

Guillermo also serves as a celebrity correspondent in the popular segment “Guillermo’s Hollywood Round-Up.” In the segment, he answers Kimmel’s questions about the latest tabloid stories and attempts to interpret them in an amusing, often poorly translated fashion.

Guillermo was initially known for his “Hollywood Roundup,” segment but now he has many offers and opportunities to showcase his talents. For the last six years, he has been to media day at the NBA finals. He has been able to interview many star athletes. He also mentioned that Rodriguez allowed him to focus more on the finals as he believed if he could stop Rodriguez, blocking the fans during the game would become easy.

Guillermo Rodriguez became a U.S. citizen in 2005. He is a resident of California for more than ten years. Rodriguez is married and has a son Benji, born on 11 December 2011. Guillermo also has two chihuahuas called Pepe and Paco. 

Rodriguez loves to watch soccer, enjoys Italian and Mexican food. Out of all the celebrities he has met so far, Guillermo claims that he has been most excited to meet Jessica Alba, George Lopez, and Jimmy Kimmel.
