Career
Teixeira accepted a contract with the UFC on 21 February 2012. He made his UFC debut on 26 May 2012, against Kyle Kingsbury at UFC 146. Teixeira knocked Kingsbury down with a right uppercut at 1:53 of the first round, got a full mount, locked an arm-triangle choke, switched to side control, and forced his opponent to tap.
Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Quinton Jackson was scheduled to face Teixeira at UFC 153 on 13 October 2012. However, Jackson withdrew from the fight because of an injury, and Fábio Maldonado took his place. Teixeira dominated Maldonado throughout the contest, which was stopped by the doctor at the end of the second round.
On 26 January 2013, at UFC on Fox 6, Teixeira fought Quinton Jackson. In the first round, Teixeira outboxed Jackson and knocked him out. He also out-wrestled Jackson and dominated him on the ground with his jiu-jitsu, earning a unanimous decision victory.
Teixeira was supposed to fight Anthony Smith at UFC Fight Night: Smith vs. Teixeira on 25 April 2020. However, on 9 April, UFC president Dana White announced that the event had been postponed and rescheduled for 13 May 2020 at UFC Fight Night: Smith vs. Teixeira. In the fifth round, he won via technical knockout.
Teixeira was set to fight Jan Blachowicz for the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship at UFC 266 on 25 September 2021. The fight, however, was postponed and took place at UFC 267 on 30 October 2021. Teixeira ended up winning by submission in the second round.
