Ginger Gonzaga is an American actress best known for her role as Christy in the HBO romantic comedy-drama television series Togetherness.

Who is Ginger Gonzaga?

Ginger Gonzaga is an improviser, actress, writer, producer, and director. She began her career doing improv and eventually made her on-screen acting debut in 2007.

She worked in several short films, television movies, and series before earning her first film role in the 2012 comedy film Ted. She appeared in several other films, including All Together Now (2013), Someone Marry Barry (2014), Punching Henry (2016), Dean (2016), Literally, Right Before Aaron (2017), Same Difference (2019), and Bad Therapy (2020).

However, Gonzaga primarily gained prominence through her television works. She has notably appeared in multiple television series, including Legit as Peggy from 2013 to 2014, Mixology as Maya in 2014, Togetherness as Christy in 2016, Wrecked as Emma from 2016 to 2017, Chance as Lorena in 2017, I’m Dying Up Here as Maggie from 2017 to 2018, and Kidding as Vivian in 2018. More recently, she appeared as Carrie on Kenan in 2022.

She worked as a writer and host of Hulu’s comedic daily pop culture recap show The Morning After from 2011 to 2012. She later wrote, produced, and directed the 2017 short film Your Day.

Furthermore, she will be a part of the upcoming superhero television series She-Hulk. She will also appear as Carol Strawberry in the forthcoming comedy film The Disappearance of Toby Blackwood.

Nationality and Age 

Gonzaga is of Filipino and Dutch descent, and her nationality is American. She was born to her parents, Adele L. Tapp and Christopher Deiparine Gonzaga, on 17 May 1984 in Pennsylvania.

She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science/International Relations and a minor in Chinese from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She subsequently received improv training at renowned improvisation theaters such as The Groundlings and The Second City.

Dating

Gonzaga dated The Mask star Jim Carrey for a few months in the late 2010s. They played love interests on the Showtime dramedy Kidding in 2018 and eventually started dating in their real life. They initially kept their relationship low-key. However, in January 2019, various news sites confirmed that Gonzaga and Carrey were dating.

Subsequently, the two made their red carpet debut together at the Showtime Golden Globe Nominees Celebration in West Hollywood, California, on 5 January 2019. The following day, they were spotted flaunting their love at the award ceremony, where they walked hand in hand before heading into Beverly Hilton for the 76th Golden Globe Awards.

In addition, Carrey called Gonzaga “incredible, unbelievable, [a] wicked talent and amazing person” during an interview on the red carpet at the Globes.

However, the pair’s relationship was short-lived. In October 2019, US Weekly reported that Gonzaga and Carrey broke up after less than a year of dating. One source also told the outlet that the two parted ways earlier that year.

Before dating Gonzaga, Carrey had been married twice and had multiple relationships. He was married to his first ex-wife, actress Melissa Womer, from 1987 to 1995 and his second ex-wife, his Dumb and Dumber co-star Lauren Holly, from 1996 to 1997. He was also engaged to actress Renée Zellweger for a year in 1999.

He then dated model and actress Jenny McCarthy from 2005 to 2010 before dating his makeup artist Cathrine White, who died from a prescription drug overdose in September 2015, aged 30.
