Former Green Beret Mike Glover’s Fieldcraft Survival Is Using His Military Career Experiences To Prep Us For Worst-Case Scenarios

Most of his training courses are based on the established military Special Operations curriculum to ensure it was good enough for Green Berets and Special Operations. "The big ones are things like weapons handling and tactical courses. We obviously don't teach classified tactics or procedures, but a lot of the way we handle weapons and defend ourselves in combat are equitable to the way you'd defend yourself on the streets," Glover said in a 2019 interview with Off-Grid.

Who better talk about survival than former green beret and special forces soldier Mike Glover. And most of all, he is backed up by facts, figures, research, and military expertise that only a few people can ever achieve.

Glover, raised in a military family, was always interested in joining the armed forces. He was in the Special Forces for at least ten combat tours and attended every special tactic training school the US Army offers before leaving the military and turning his extensive training and battle expertise into a business.

During a special edition of the Black Rifle Coffee Company's BRCC Presents YouTube series, Glover shared his remarkable story from his old days in the military. "I felt like I was stagnant if I wasn't growing," he said. "If I wasn't killing bad guys, if I wasn't doing the mission — then I needed to move on and adapt and learn and evolve. … I was passionate about it, and I felt guilty if I wasn't deploying to war each and every year."

More on Mike Glover:

"I've been to every survival school in special operations," he added. During his nearly two-decade-long military career, he was a weapons specialist, assaulter, sniper, recon specialist, team sergeant, joint terminal air controller (JTAC), and operations SGM in the US Army for nearly two decades. He also served in fourteen war zones, both as a special forces member and as a contractor for the US government. ]

Among his best-learned lessons during his military days, he said situational awareness and learning through experience and observing the environment are the two most important.

"Not just passively look, but consciously observing was an important lesson I learned. Also, planning and preparing in advance will determine your fate and survival, so survival shouldn't be reactive. It should be preplanned and deliberate," Glover said in a 2019 interaction with Off-Grid.

And now, he is using all his past experiences to share his knowledge with others. The sergeant turned businessman is the founder and CEO of Fieldcraft Survival. Glover claimed he started Fieldcraft Survival because he wanted to do something new rather than merely focus on tactical firearms instruction.

"I didn't want to be a tactical instructor," he said. "We're a dime a dozen. You could throw a rock and hit a special operations guy teaching tactics," he said.

Glover has also developed various programs that provide information, training, and equipment to anyone interested in developing their capabilities in the genre of survival in the mountain ranges.

When asked about what he finds different in teaching survival to a man and a woman, he responded the best instance could be given when they teach land navigation.

"When men get lost they use a lot of their ego. So when they get lost they get frustrated and start making bad decisions, as opposed to a woman who might stop and think a little more clearly." Glover said. "She might not be as reactive as males who may be looking at losing as a bad thing that might affect their psyche. What we see is women being a little bit more deliberate with reactions in the field, but also being a bit more overwhelmed by stress. Men tend to cope with stress a little bit better."

The former military officer also noted that their program has various other things where they always tell people that the final test of equality is survival. It makes no difference what color you are, what ethnicity you are, or if the calamity is natural or man-made; the effects are usually universal.

Furthermore, Glover is also the host of a podcast show, Fieldcraft Survival Podcast, where he discusses survival tactics, military, defense, gear, fitness, over landing, army, and more.
