She developed a passion for journalism from a very early age. At just nine years old, she created her newspaper to write about the 1991 Gulf war and read it to her neighbors. “I was lucky in that I knew early on what I wanted to do with my life,” she said in an interview with Berkeley Haas.
McLaughlin earned her bachelor’s in business administration with top honors, Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of California Berkeley’s Haas undergraduate program.
