Eric Villency was born as Eric Scot Villency on 10 June 1975 in New York City, USA. His mother, Rowann, is an artist of mixed media, and his father, Robert Villency, is the chairperson of the pioneer furniture design company, Maurice Villency.
For education, Villency attended the University of Wisconsin. After graduating from there, in 1998, he took over the CEO position of his grandfather's company, Maurice Villency, which later got named as the Villency Design Group.
Further, in 2006, Villency started a design workshop for professionals and called it Villency Atelier. And in 2007, he again launched a furniture company Villency Pure Design, where he specifically focused on domestically available raw materials to produce the furniture.

Villency married for a second time to his fashion designer wife, Caroline Fare, in December 2013. They were introduced by a mutual friend Sandra Ripert in January 2010 and began dating soon after.
Eventually, in April 2013, Villency proposed to her, and in December of the same year, they got married. The couple organized their wedding at Eau Palm Beach, Florida, where around 160 guests were invited. Villency's son Ronan served as a ring bearer for the occasion.
Fare is a Swedish designer and it was reported that she designed her wedding dress with Villency.
