Career
After graduating, Mekka started performing in the community theatre with the Worcester County Light Opera. Later, he joined the Boston Conservatory of Music, which led him to Boston, where he began working at a chain of dinner theatres called Chateau De Ville.
And throught his broadway career, he acted on Grease, Hairspray, My Mother’s Italian, My Father’s Jewish & I’m In Therapy, It Had to Be You, and Fiddler on the Roof. Eventually, he landed a role on the Broadway showThe Lieutenant, for which he was nominated for a Tony Award. Then, in 1976, he began playing the role of Carmine on the series Laverne & Shirley.
Alongside he also made appearances on many television shows such as The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, The Bold and the Beautiful, and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
