Early Life and Education

Ed Mylett was born as the eldest son of his parents, and he has three younger sisters. He grew up in Diamond Bar, California. His father was an alcoholic but loved him. His dad’s ability to live at the moment and communicate with people inspire Mylett.

“When my dad would come home – when he would – I’d have to deduce really quickly,” Mylett said. “I’d have to look at him and be present. Which Dad am I getting? Am I getting happy, sober Dad who wants to play with me? Or am I getting drunk, kind of angry, disconnected, mean Dad? So I built these skills as a young man because of my dad’s drinking, being present with people, and assessing them. That’s a unique thing that I developed because my dad drank.”

Mylett always looked up to his father to build success in life. And from a very young age, Mylett realized and decided that instead of spending his life working for someone else and building their dreams, he would work for himself and call his own shots.

After graduating from a high school in Diamond Bar, Mylett studied a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. During his college years, he was also a student-athlete. He played baseball for the NCAA Division I Pacific Tigers and was among the best players.

Back then, Mylett led the NCAA in stolen bases. He also became a three-time All-American at the University of the Pacific. Upon the completion of college, he served as a youth counselor for underprivileged young boys.

He then continued achieving higher positions in the company. Hewas was later promoted to Senior Vice Chairman of the company. In 2006, he became Chairman’s Council member and cooperated with other executives in developing WFG’s business models and relations.
