David Chang is a professional chef, author, entrepreneur, restaurateur, and TV personality. He was born on 5 August 1977 in Virginia, USA, to North Korean father Joe, and South Korean mother Sherri, who later emigrated to America. Chang grew up in Virginia with his three siblings. He attended Georgetown Prep School and later graduated from Trinity College, majoring in religious studies.

Later in 2000, Chang joined the French Culinary Institute in New York Center and became a professional chef. After completing training, he worked in Manhattan, Tokyo, and New York before finally starting his own restaurant Momofuku Noodle Bar in 2004. Following its success in New York, Chang opened his second eatery in 2006 and named it Momofuku Ssam Bar. Today, he is the owner of multiple fast-food restaurants in and outside the US.

David also appears on TV shows as a guest chef, show judge, and host. He first appeared as the recurring cast of the HBO drama series Treme in 2010.
