David Benavidez is an American WBC super-middleweight title-winning professional boxer. 

Who is David Benavidez?

David Benavidez was born on 17 December 1996 in Phoenix, Arizona. He is 24 as of 2021. 

Benavidez took to boxing at the tender age of three. He participated in 15 amateur fights and won all the games he played. Benavidez then temporarily stopped boxing and took up an eating hobby. Subsequently, he gained 80 pounds and weighed around 260 pounds by 12. 

After some time, he decided to return to boxing and controlled his eating habit. Benavidez apparently dropped nearly 100 pounds and weighed 170 pounds. In 2013, he made his professional debut when he was 17. 

His first fight was in Mexico, in which he defeated Erasmo Moreno by a knockout in the first round. Benavidez then won his first belt after winning the NABF Junior light heavyweight title in a fight against Rollin Williams in April 2015 in the U.S. Virgin Islands. 

On 20 May 2017, Benavidez won a fight against former world title challenger Rogelio Medina. After winning the game, he was considered one of the top prospects at super middleweight. He then defeated Ronald Gavril after 12 rounds by split decision on 8 September 2017 and became the youngest world champion in super middleweight history at age 20.

Benavidez's father, Jose Benavidez Sr., is a professional boxing trainer. He has trained professional boxers, MMA fighters, and sports athletes and is the owner of Benavidez Sports Training, a boxing gym in Burien, Washington.

Benavidez's older brother, Jose Benavidez Jr., is also a professional boxer.

Benavidez's parents got divorced during his childhood. After the divorce, his brother lived with his father while he lived with his mom and younger sister.
