The show follows Miri Matteson, who is released from prison after serving an 18-year sentence for the accidental murder of her best friend, Lara Boback (Imogen Gurney). She returns to her parent's home in Hythe and tries to restart her life.

Daisy Haggard was born Celia Daisy Morna Haggard on 22 March 1978 in London, England. She debuted her acting career in the 1996 TV series Ruth Rendell Mysteries as Spinny Crossland. 

Following that, Haggard starred in the TV series My Family and Swivel on the Tip in 2001. The subsequent year, Haggard was featured in the movies Club Le Monde and Max and the TV series Clocking Off.

Haggard has also appeared in notable TV shows like Green Wing (2004), Comedy Lab (2005-2006), Ronni Ancona & Co. (2007), Ashes to Ashes (2009), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (2010), Midsomer Murders (2011), and others.

However, Haggard is best known for her role in the TV series Episodes (2011-2017), in which she played the role of Myra Licht for 26 episodes. Besides, she is also widely recognized for her role as Sam in the TV series Uncle. She appeared for 20 episodes from 2012 to 2017. 

Her most recent credits include the TV series Breeders (2020-2021) and Back to Life (2019-2021). In addition, Haggard also voiced mum's character in the 2021 animated TV movie Hilda and the Mountain King.

“Miri needs to be an optimist. She needs that kind of, ‘You knock me down, I get back up again’ [attitude] and we layered that in. Then it started to take really a much better shape because you’ve got this protagonist who’s getting punched from all sides, but she’s determined,” she said about her character in a 2021 interview with Variety

The series also features Geraldine James as Caroline Matteson, Richard Durden as Oscar Matteson, Adeel Akhtar as Billy, Jo Martin as Janice, Jamie Michie as Dom, and Christine Bottomley as Mandy, among others.

'Breeders'

Breeders is a dark comedy television series created by Chris Addison, Martin Freeman, and Simon Blackwell. The series follows two parents who are dealing with the challenges of parenthood. The series debuted on the American cable network FX on 2 March 2020 and on the British network Sky One on 12 March 2020.

Breeders was extended for a second season in May 2020, with the first episode airing on 22 March 2021. The series received a third season renewal in May 2021, and the filming began in late 2021.

Haggard played the role of Ally, wife of Paul (Martin Freeman) and mother of their children, Ava (Jayda Eyles) and Luke (George Wakeman). In each episode, they deal with parenting challenges, from deciding what kind of school their child should attend to nights when their children refuse to sleep, family grief, and postnatal depression.

Moreover, the second season also focused on Paul's increasingly strained relationship with his teenage son and ended on a cliffhanger, with him moving out of the family home.

Haggard has been married to her husband Joe Wilson, a musician, since 27 July 2013. The couple had been dating for one year before getting married. 

Haggard shared a photo of their wedding on their 6th anniversary on Instagram and wrote, "Happy anniversary to this guy .. the best one. 6 years married, 7 years since first snog. Best decision ever x."

Children

Haggard and her husband, Wilson, have two daughters. The actress was nine months pregnant with her second child when the BBC commissioned the Back to Life series in 2017. 

In an interview with Grazia in 2020, she talked about how she found creative energy and a new work ethic from her kids. She explained, "Having children is liberating because, at the moment, nothing is as important, so that really helps me with big decisions and things that used to scare me. It helps me put those things in perspective."
