Chris Sowers is a well-known American meteorologist. He appears on 6ABC Action News as their weekend meteorologist.

Who is Chris Sowers?

Chris Sowers is a professional meteorologist and weather reporter. He currently serves as a weekend meteorologist at 6ABC Action News.

He first ventured into a weather reporting career as a weather producer for 6ABC in October 2000. Later in October 2005, he moved to WKNY-TV in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and began working as a Chief Meteorologist.

Sowers stayed at WKNY for over two years before moving to WFLD-TV, Chicago, Illinois, in October 2008. He spent another two years and four months at WFLD and returned back to 6ABC in May 2011. Since then, Sowers has remained the main meteorologist of 6ABC Action News for more than ten years now.

How Old is Chris Sowers?

The American meteorologist was born in New Jersey, the USA, on 7 October 1975. As of now, he is 46 years old.

Sowers has not disclosed any information about his childhood and parents to the public. However, he was born as an identical twin alongside his brother, Gary.

His Wife is a Pharmacist.

The 6ABC meteorologist’s wife, Lori, is a pharmacist by profession. Her LinkedIn bio suggests she currently works at CVS Pharmacy in Williamstown, New Jersey. Before that, she was with Enclara Pharmacia as their Clinical Pharmacist from November 2012 to April 2019

Sowers tied wedding knots with Lori in June 2016. As of now, they have completed five years together as married couple. Moreover, on their 5th marriage anniversary, Sowers wished his wife a happy marriage anniversary via an Instagram post on 24 June 2021. In the post, he mentioned the incident when he nearly lost the engagement ring just a few hours before proposing to Lori. He wrote,

"Happy 5th Anniversary babe! I still remember this like it was yesterday. I almost lost the ring an hour before I proposed. It was half hanging out of my pocket when for some reason I decided to put my hands in my pockets and caught it. Talk about a close call.”

He Has A Daughter.

Sowers and his wife Lori are parents to their only child, a daughter Paige Elizabeth. She took birth on 17 November 2021 and is six months old now.

Sowers broke the news of him becoming a father via a post on his Instagram handle @chrissowersweather on 18 November 2021. He uploaded several adorable pictures of his just-born daughter alongside a caption where he disclosed her name. He wrote,

“It’s official, I’m now a daddy! Baby Sowers arrived yesterday evening at 5:40 pm. She was 6 pounds 7 ounces, 19 3/4 inches long. We named her Paige Elizabeth.”

He Was Into Weight Training.

Besides meteorology and weather reporting, Sowers is also fascinated with working out, including weight training and marathon. On 19 June 2020, he shared a throwback picture from 20 years ago on his Twitter handle when he was ripped and muscular. As per the tweet, Sowers was at 6% body fat during that time and loved doing heavy squats. He wrote,

“This was 20 years ago in Sea Isle City. I was big into weights back then. 6% body fat, squatting 375 for reps. My protein and calorie intake was insane! I felt like all I did was eat and lift. I don’t do much weight training anymore, just cardio. Swim and run.”

He Had A Hernia Surgery

Back in 2018, Sowers was diagnosed with a hernia and needed surgery to get through it. He shared the information about his health and successful surgery via a tweet on 7 June 2018. Alongside the news, he also posted a picture of himself on a hospital bed. His tweet read,

“Surgery today was a success! Very sore and sleepy, but doing good. Medium size Murphy is laying right beside me. He's a good boy. Lol”
