Cailee Spaeny is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. She started her on-screen career with a short thriller film titled Counting to 1000 in 2016. However, Spaeny’s first notable part was in the 2018 science fiction action movie Pacific Rim: Uprising, followed by movies like Bad Times at the El Royale, On the Basis of Sex, and Vice later that year. 

In 2020, she starred in The Craft: Legacy and the FX science-fiction thriller series Devs. In 2021, Spaeny featured in the HBO crime drama Mare of Easttown as a series regular.

She was born to Mark Spaeny and Reja Spaeny. She has a sister named Caisha Spaeny.

As a kid, Spaeny spent a lot of time with the Springfield Little Theatre organization, with whom she performed in a lot of productions. Lucas Grabeel and Kendra Kassebaum are two prominent alumni of SLT. Spaeny was also cast as the lead character Aerial in Disney’s Little Mermaid Jr. in the 2013–2014 season.

DeKnight directed the blockbuster film that starred Spaeny alongside John Boyega and Scott Eastwood.

In the same year, she appeared in three more movies. She played Rose Summerspring in Bad Times at the El Royale, Jane Ginsberg in On the Basis of Sex, and 17-year-old Lynne Vincent in Vice. She even earned a nomination for a ‘Women’s Image Network Award’ for Supporting Actress Feature Film for the movie On the Basis of Sex (2018).

In 2019, Spaeny featured in two short videos titled ‘The All-American Rejects: Send Her to Heaven’ and ‘Vice: Deleted Scenes.’ The following year, she played Lyndon in the television miniseries Devs. In addition, Spaeny appeared in eight episodes of the mystery drama series. Devs follows a story of a computer engineer who looks into her company’s covert development section, which she feels is responsible for her boyfriend’s disappearance. In 2020, she also appeared as Lily in the movie The Craft: Legacy.

Most recently, in 2021, the actress portrayed the role of Erin McMenamin in the HBO miniseries Mare of Easttown. She appeared in five episodes of the mystery drama. The miniseries revolves around a detective (played by Kate Winslet) in a tiny Pennsylvania town who investigates a community murder while maintaining her life from crumbling apart. 

Upcoming Series

Spaeny will be seen in the upcoming American television anthology drama series The First Lady in the role of Anna Eleanor Roosevelt, the eldest kid and only daughter of President Franklin D. Roosevelt and Eleanor Roosevelt. She would appear in nine episodes of Aaron Cooley’s series. It is slated to broadcast on Showtime in 2022.
