Career

Sarian started her professional career as a beauty studio artist at Sephora from 2009 to 2014. While at Sephora, Sarian advised the need-based beauty products to customers and did face makeovers for those who desired it.

She merely offered the tricks and tactics she picked up from Sephora and Urban Decay in the early days of her YouTube career. Eventually, in 2019, she began her Murder Mystery and Makeup (MM&M) series, which catapulted her to fame. The concept of the series arose out of her enthusiasm for crime stories. Moreover, her mother worked as a 911 dispatcher, which initially piqued her interest in actual crime.

The debut episode of Murder Mystery and Makeup narrated the murder of a pregnant woman by her husband, Chris Watts. Ever since the first episode aired, the series has remained popular. “I was getting view counts as I had never gotten before, and within 24 hours I had gotten 60,000 views. To me that was fame,” Sarian told Village Voice over a phone call in 2021. “Then I was like, ‘maybe this isn’t a one-off, let me try it again with a different story.’ I’ve just kept going and I have not stopped growing since that first video,” she added.

Sarian narrates true crime stories of murders and mysteries while she does her makeup in the series. Her most popular criminal stories include Jeffrey Dahmer, a notorious serial killer, and Richard Ramirez, also known as “The Nightstalker.” As of October 2021, these stories have over 17 million and 8 million views on YouTube, respectively. 

In addition, she also features stories on obscure criminals such as “The Scream Killers” (the Cassie Jo Stoddart case) and the “chocolate murderer” (Cordelia Botkin) in the series.

Podcast and Merch

In 2021, Sarian started a podcast called Dark History with the help of Wheelhouse DNA and Audioboom. She does not just limit true crime in the podcast; instead, she delves into various bizarre and terrifying true-life events of American and global history. As of 21 October 2021, the podcast has released 19 episodes.

Sarian has a merch line under the label of the podcast. Sweatshirts, joggers, t-shirts, and hoodies with “Dark History” emblazoned on them are among the merchandise.

Is Bailey Sarian Married?

Sarian is in a relationship with the graffiti artist Fernando Valdez. While it is not disclosed that the couple has been married or performed the wedding ceremony, they have been together for over eight years. 

According to an Instagram post by Sarian dated 13 December 2019, the couple seems to have been together since 2013. “Fernando and I met on a Friday the 13th in 6 December years ago? I’m kind of terrible at dates 😂 but I guess that makes it our anniversary, he’s a pretty swell guy, a real fox🦊 I’d say Friday the 13th is my lucky day,” read the caption of the post in light of their relationship.

Moreover, in an October 2021 tweet, she revealed while she googled herself; it said she was married, but she denied the false news. "I googled myself for some sick reason and it says I’m 5ft8, married, and had a bunch of plastic surgery. Lol. None of the above apply to my lard ass. Wait til you find out how tall I am," she wrote.
