Antwon Tanner is an actor best known as Antwon "Skills" Taylor on the television show One Tree Hill.

Who is Antwon Tanner?

Born in Chicago, Illinois, on 14 April 1975, Antwon Tanner is an American actor. As of December 2021, his age is 46 years old.

Tanner debuted his film career in the 1996 movie Sunset Park. The same year, he played in the crime-drama film Sunchaser. Simultaneously, from 1996 to 1997, Tanner also played Michael on the TV show Moesha. He also appeared in its spinoff, The Parkers, in 2001.

In 2005, Tanner was cast in a leading role in the film Coach Carter alongside Samuel L. Jackson. He then co-starred in the horror movie 7eventy 5ive with Brian Hooks, Denyce Lawton, and Cherie Johnson two years later.

His other movie credits include One Eight Seven (1997), Never Die Alone (2004), and Percentage, Q, CRU, and Who Can I Run To in 2014. Additionally, his recent movies include Dear Christmas (2020) and Divided We Fall (2021). 

As of December 2021, Tanner is working on the upcoming movie Packz, in the post-production phase.

Besides his movie career, Tanner has also appeared on several TV series like One Tree Hill (2003-2012), Rizzoli & Isles (2014), The Carmichael Show (2015–2017), as well as Lucifer (2019), and Back Jesus (2014-2019). 

In addition, he recently starred in the 2020 TV series Boomerang and will also be playing Skillz in the upcoming series A Decade of Ravens.

'One Tree Hill'

One Tree Hill is a CW TV show that first aired in 2003 and ended in 2012 after 187 episodes and nine seasons. The series revolves around a group of high school students in Tree Hill, North Carolina, where the high school basketball squad, the Ravens, is the source of the most pride. 

Tanner played the role of Antwon "Skills" Taylor in all its seasons. Taylor was the hardest-working player on the Ravens team. Although he didn't feature in every episode, he was a fan favorite. 

In an August 2021 interview with Drama Queens podcast, Tanner stated he believes his character Skills should have dated Peyton Sawyer (Hilarie Burton) on the show. He even approached the show's creator, Mark Schwahn, with the idea. "Him [sic] and Peyton would be really good," he continued. "It could give us… some type of conflict because I don't have nothing."

In November 2021, Tanner made a virtual musical performance on the CW show's official weekend reunion of cast members; a fundraiser called A Weekend In Tree Hill 3 in Wilmington, N.C.

Wife & Family

Tanner is married to his wife, Nic. They have four kids — two sons, Twon and Jess, and two daughters, Shimary and Hilary. However, there are few insights about his wife, but he frequently shares pictures of her and their children on Instagram.

In August 2009, Tanner was arrested and charged with "knowingly and purposefully" transferring Social Security cards "with intent to defraud." He pled guilty in federal court in Brooklyn on 20 August 2009, to selling more than a dozen Social Security numbers for $10,000. He was sentenced to three months in prison for the offense and was required to return to prison by 30 April 2010.
Tanner acknowledged the claims and described them as an "embarrassment" to his family. He also claimed that he did it out of "stupidity" and that he was a victim of the financial crisis.
