Andy Adler is a California native sports anchor. TV sports fans mainly recognize her as the lead host of PIX11’s live TV show, One on One with Andy Adler.

Who is Andy Adler?

Andy Adler is a sports anchor and TV show host. She has primarily gained recognition as the show host and sports anchor on WPIX-TV’s PIX11 (2014-2021).

She first started her broadcasting journey in 2001 with the NBC affiliate channel KSBW in Monterey, California. However, her professional career as a sports anchor began only after Fox 5 hired her in 2007. She worked there for three years and moved to NBC News in 2010, where she spent her next three, i.e., until 2013.

Additionally, she co-hosted pre and post-game shows of the Los Angeles Lakers from 2010 to 2014.

Age and Family

Andy Adler was born Andrea Rose Adler in San Diego, California, the USA, on 19 August 1981. Her family includes her parents, both Mexican-Jews, and her two brothers with whom she grew up.

She revealed in one of her interviews with thriveglobal.com that her father always taught her brother and her life lessons using sports-related metaphors. Moreover, her mother helped her learn the backstories of great players and how they achieved greatness in sports.

Adler dreamt of becoming a TV anchor from a very young age. In pursuit of what she loved, she attended Stanford University and graduated with honors.

PIX11

PIX11 or WPIX-TV is a CW-affiliated New York-based flagship TV station. It first came into operation in 1948 and has since broadcasted several award-winning shows. 

Adler joined the channel in 2014 as their lead sports anchor and held the position until she left in November 2021. Moreover, at PIX11, she was a sports director and co-hosted several pre-and post-game shows.

Her most notable work in the channel was as the lead anchor of Weeknight Sports, broadcasted from 6 pm to 10 pm. She also co-hosted Yankees and Jets pre-game shows.

Additionally, on Saturday nights, she appeared on the channel as the host of their live show, One on One with Andy Adler.

Marriage and Divorce

Adler married her husband, Doug Ellin, an American screenwriter, and producer, on 18 September 2017. The pair first met sometime around 2015 when she interviewed him on one of her shows. 

The first meeting did not start any personal relationship between them. It took them close to two years before they met for the second time.

In January 2017, Ellin reached out to her and put forward his interest in meeting her, which Adler readily accepted. Then after three weeks on the phone, he traveled to her workplace in New York and went out on their first date.

The pair soon bonded and eventually got engaged on 30 April 2017. 

Moreover, the same year in September, they exchanged wedding vows. They had a ceremony with only the presence of their family in San Diego.

However, as a married couple, less than one year decided to part ways. Reportedly, their respective jobs consistently kept them apart, leaving them with very little quality time with each other. They both considered moving to one another’s place, i.e., Ellin’s home in LA or Adler’s place in New York. 

But, neither of them could give up their well-settled career at their respective places. Speaking about it with pagesix.com on 30 April 2018, he said,

Unfortunately, the distance was too tough … I contemplated moving to New York, and she to LA, but Andy has a great career and life already set up there, as do I here.

Ellin then filed for a legal separation in April 2018. But again, the court is yet to make its final decision on the pair’s relationship.

Doug Ellin Short Bio

Doug Ellin was born Douglas Reed Ellin in Brooklyn, New York, on 6 April 1968. He is best known worldwide as the creator of multiple Primetime Emmy winning HBO drama series Entourage. 

Regarding his personal life, he has been married twice to date. He married his first wife, Melissa Hecht, on 25 August 1996 and had two children. He separated from her in 2009 and later married Andy Adler in 2017.
