Ali Ahn is an Asian-American actress best known for her role as Vanessa in the 2012 romantic comedy-drama film Liberal Arts.

Who is Ali Ahn?

Ali Ahn is a film and television actress. She made her on-screen debut in the 2006 short film That Simple. Ahn appeared in a few other short films before scoring a role in the television series Ugly Betty in 2010. Ahn later appeared in over a dozen television series, most notably on Louie in 2011, Supernatural in 2017, Billions between 2016 and 2018, and Raising Dion in 2019. 

Ahn made her breakthrough after debuting in the 2012 film Liberal Arts. She later was featured in several other films, including The Girl in the Book (2015) and The Scottish Play (2020).

Besides her on-screen career, she also has appeared in several Broadway and Off-Broadway productions, including The Heidi Chronicles, Twelfth Night, Romeo and Juliet, and Letters of Suresh.

'Raising Dion'

In 2019, Ahn started appearing in the Netflix sci-fi family drama series Raising Dion. In the series, she portrays the role of a scientist named Suzanne Wu, who lacks the ability to fake enthusiasm. She also reprised the role in Season 2, which premiered on 1 February 2022. Ahn has appeared on 16 episodes in two seasons.

Suzanne Wu is the chief executive officer of the BIONA Initiative and is in charge of all of the institute's research. She has shifted from adversary to ally in Season 2 after assisting Dion and Nicole in their struggle against The Crooked Man at the end of Season 1. 

Under Wu's direction, BIONA is working on studies to understand better how superpowers function and how they affect people, as well as inquiries into sinkholes that have appeared all across the world in the aftermath of the Crooked Man event.

Age/Birthday

Ahn’s age is still a mystery. She has never disclosed her birth date and age publicly. However, according to one of her Instagram posts, her birthday falls in July. 

She took to Instagram on 24 July 2016 to respond to the birthday greetings she received from her friends. She posted her pictures with her friends from The Governors Ball Music Festival, captioning, “My little heart is so filled with all the lovely birthday greetings from so many wonderful friends from so many different walks of life. She could burst. Want to respond to everyone but in the meantime, here’s proof I was busy. Thanks to these crazy kids for keeping me young. And for being seen with me in public in that outfit.”

Family Bio and Ethnicity

Ahn also has not revealed much information about her family. She only talked about having her grandmother and siblings on her Instagram posts. However, some sites also claim that she has an Asian-American ethnicity.

In an Instagram post dated 19 February 2019, she hinted that she has Korean descent. Posting a picture with her grandmother that she took a few years before her grandmother’s death, she wrote in the caption how her Halmoni (means grandmother in Korean) used to pick her up from school on Fridays in her car and take her to the department stores before going home.

Ahn has one sister and one brother. On National Siblings Day in 2018, she posted her picture with her sister named Stephanie Ahn and mentioned that she also has a brother who is not on Instagram. Similarly, in another Instagram post dated 7 February 2020, she also wrote that she sees her little sister as a mother, her closest confidant, and her child. 

Boyfriend/Husband

Ahn is not married as of 2021, but she has a long-time boyfriend named William Jackson Harper. He is an actor best known for his role in NBC’s fantasy comedy series The Good Place. 

As per Los Angeles Times, the couple was in relationships with other people when they began doing theater together in New York. They later moved on from their past relationships while starring in the Broadway production of Romeo and Juliet in 2012.

Harper first shared his picture with Ahn on 6 November 2016 but didn’t describe anything about their relationship. After that, the two occasionally started posting their pictures on their individual Instagram accounts. 

They also appear together on each other’s Instagram with their dog named Chico. Some sites claim that Ahn and Harper have been dating since November 2016. However, according to Distractify, the couple confirmed their relationship in September 2019.

The pair haven’t spoken up about getting married as of 2021.
