Alexis Phifer is an American fashion designer and stylist. She is the founder of a Los Angeles-based clothing brand, A-Thread. She is recognized for her relationship with 'Grammy Award'-winning rapper Kanye West.

Who is Alexis Phifer?

Alexis Phifer is a fashion designer who got interested in the fashion world from a very young age. When she was ten years old, her grandmother would take her to fashion shows at Neiman Marcus and Saks. After the fashion show, they would meet designers backstage, where she instantly became attracted to the creative parts of designers. Later, she went to a fashion school to learn the required skill sets to pursue her dream career in fashion designing.

While still attending fashion school, Phifer started her clothing line called Keita, named after a girl. After that, she freelanced and worked in The Vanity Group's boutique agency. Later, she also started working as a stylist. Then, in June 2018, Phifer founded a clothing brand, A-Threads, in Los Angeles, California. She has been serving as the CEO and creative director of the A-Threads. She describes A-Thread as 'an all-inclusive brand' and offers her selected designs of female fashion wear.

In 2020, she served as a Billboard's guest fashion expert at the Grammy Awards.

Phifer began dating rapper Kanye West in 2002. After dating for around two years, they broke up when West found success in 2004 after releasing his album The College Dropout. The two reunited the following year and eventually got engaged in August 2006. The rapper proposed to her over a lobster and pasta dinner during a vacation on Capri island. She was spotted on the red carpet flaunting her engagement right at an Evening in Vogue event in New York in early 2008. Shortly after that, the couple called off their 18 monthly engagement in 2008.

Allegedly their relationship turned sour after the unexpected death of West's mother, Donda, who died of complications following elective plastic surgery. Following their breakup, Phifer shared that she was unhappy about their split. She even mentioned West as a talented person she ever knew. In an interview with People in April 2008, she said, "It's always sad when things like this end, and we remain friends. I wish him the best in his future and all of his endeavors. He's one of the most talented people I've ever met."

After her high-profile relationship with West ended, she remained low-key about her personal life. However, in an interview with Vibe in 2011, she said, "I think after experiencing being with somebody that is a celebrity, it's really nice to have your anonymity."
