Allen began her career as an actress when she was three years old. She grew up acting in TV series such as Blue’s Clues from 1996 to 2004 and then TV series Out of the Box and the film The Best Man in 1999. In addition to that, Allen played the role of Alicia’ Brace Face’ in the 2003 movie School of Rock. Further in 2005, she acted in the popular movie Are We There Yet?, and its sequel Are We Done Yet?

Passionate in acting from a young age, Allen chose to become a speech pathologist after high school. She proclaims that she found an alignment between her theatrical side and therapeutically side in the profession.

After college, Allen interned at several institutions from 2015 to 2016. She worked as a Graduate Clinician at the Shield Institute, Children’s Evaluation and Rehabilitation Center, and Veterans Affairs Harbor Healthcare System (VA Hospital). In addition, she was also a Research Assistant at her college, Teacher’s College, and also at the Aphasia Rehabilitation & Bilingualism Research Lab.

Then in 2017, Allen began working as a speech-language pathologist. From 2017 to 2018, she worked for Thrive and Shine Speech and Language Pathology. Later. from 2018 to 2019, she was at the Methodist Hospital of Southern California.

Subsequently, in 2020 Allen was appointed as the clinical instructor and supervisor at the Teachers College, Columbia University.

She started appearing in commercials from the age of three, and by the age of six, she had already landed a role in the TV show I’m Gonna Rip Your Head.

Allen graduated high school from Professional Performing Arts High School in 2009. There, she specialized in musical theater studies. Right after high school, Allen enrolled at Pace University for her bachelor's study. Then in 2013, she graduated with a degree in communication science and disorders.

Subsequently, from 2014 to 2016, she studied at Teachers College, Columbia University, and finished her Master’s Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders.

In 1996, when Allen was only 6-year-old, she began voicing the character of a side table drawer, who is Steve’s friend in the children’s tv-show Blue’s Clues. She played the character after reaching her teenage years in 2004.

In between Blue’s Clues, she appeared in credits such as the tv-series Out of the Box (1999) and the movie The Best Man (1999, the role of a flower girl).

Later, in 2005, Allen played the character of Lindsey Kingston in the film Are We There Yet? Following the success of the movie, a sequel was introduced. So, she revived her character as Lindsey Persons in Are We Done Yet?

Even down to my look; my mom chose not to compromise that little Black girls my age, at the time, were wearing braids and ponytails with barrettes. Because my passion for this developed so young, my parents knew it was important to instill personal value within me—so that I didn’t lose myself before I even had the chance to develop who I was.”

‘School of Rock’

In addition to that, Allen was also a part of the popular 2003 musical comedy movie School of Rock. She played Alicia, who sang in the lead as well as back up.

The movie was about a failed guitarist (Jack Black as Dewey Finn) who disguises himself as a substitute teacher in a school and inspires the students to form a band. Jack Black played the lead role alongside other actors such as Joan Cusack and Miranda Cosgrove. The child actors included James Hosey, Brian Falduto, Becca Brown, Zachary Infante, Caitlin Hale, and Allen.

'The Sucess and Aftermath'

The movie was a critical and commercial success. It garnered an international reputation and has even been labeled as a classic movie. 

In addition to that, the movie’s cast stayed in touch regardless of their continuation in the film industry. On 2019 New Years’ eve, some of the cast members celebrated the 15th anniversary of the movie in New York.

Allen also joined the reunion, and her co-star Caitlin Hale captioned their meet as “Seven School of Rockstars walk into a bar...”
