Heusinger made his acting industry debut with a role in the 2005 movie Sweet Land. It followed his appearances as Joe Mason in Tie a Yellow Ribbon (2007 Movie), The Nanny Diaries (2007 Movie), and Skin-Deep (2007 Short Film).
After a number of movie roles, he landed his first acting job on TV in The CW series Gossip Girl in 2008. He played the character Lord Marcus Beaton in four episodes of the show. Growing up in Jacksonville, Heusinger developed a passion for arts and acting from an early age. In pursuit of his love, he went to study acting at Douglas Anderson School of Arts in his hometown. He also attended the Juilliard School in New York.
